ModernAGED Designs created a special project this past weekend, signifying a new step for our business into backyard summer lounging. The goal: to create a seating area for an upper backyard terrace. The result was an L-shaped seating arrangement focused around a fire pit while taking advantage of Southern California sunset views. The seating was created for a church pastor’s house. The pastor’s family are not strangers to large groups and frequent gatherings, so we designed each lounge sofa to accommodate four people comfortably. We supported the sofas with durable timber construction that’s sure to last.

A good piece of furniture is simple. No false finish. No laminates. No pretending it’s something it’s not. Our pieces are open, authentic, designed to reveal what’s beneath the surface. We use durable woods, combined with bold, rustic metals. Brought together, these adaptively re-used materials reveal qualities inherent in all good design: beauty, function, and reliability over time.
